In which I don't get enough sleep.
It's almost Thanksgiving, which means that Finals are rapidly approaching, and my already faltering work/sleep/life balance is about to get a whole lot more silly (in the bad way). My university is on the quarter system, which means that instead of spacing classes out like most other universities do, we get to have all of our classes for a quarter begin and end within the span of 10 weeks. We do this three times in an academic year. Thats 3x Midterms, 3x Finals, 3x existential dread about our future careers. Also, since I'm an engineering major, I get extra Midterms! Anyway, I've gotten through it before, I'll get through it again.
That being said, I have noticed the bags under my eyes getting extra baggy these days. I guess I can't act shocked about it though, I'm not the best at sleeping, or waking up. Funny story, I had a Midterm from 9pm-10pm last night (confident in this one BTW), and then a quiz this morning at 8am. I also had multiple assignments to do, on top of unrelated exam prep and whatnot. All in all, I think I only got ~4.5 hours of sleep between those two tests... do you see why I named this site as I did? After the 8am quiz, I zombie-walked back to my dorm and fell back to sleep.
I woke up at 1:40 .... pm. I had a class at 12:00pm today too, or I guess I was supposed to have one. I don't regret sleeping as I did, I needed it, I just wish that I wasn't at this point already. I just have a few more weeks to go!
In other news, some friends are having a Friendsgiving get-together this Sunday; I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been very social at all this school year, so I guess I have some catching up to do with people, but mostly I'm just looking forward to some good vibes, man. I've found that a lot of people at my university can be a little closed-off or cold. I have to admit I'm probably not the most friendly looking person out there either, but the vibes I get walking around can be pretty dismal; everyone just seems like their tapped out these days.
Unrelated, but I have a take-home Midterm this weekend, I'll probably knock it out tomorrow since I'll be busy Sunday. It's Discrete Math, a subject that I've grown to both love and hate, math really shouldn't work like it does sometimes and I think its stupid and broken, but also really fun because it does indeed work like that and nobody can stop it! Can you tell that it's been eating up most of my study/homework time these days?
Anyway, thats it for now. It's currently 2:11AM and I am TIRED. Gonna hit the rack now, hopefully my PC still exists in the morning (upgrading from Debian 11 -> Debian 12).
